PURPOSE

Since our founding in 2010, our mission has been to promote research and science to accelerate the search for therapies for neurodegenerative diseases, with a special emphasis on demyelinating diseases. We do this by directly funding international research projects, organizing and funding scientific networking meetings, events, and conferences, and raising public awareness in support of science through a variety of initiatives. There have been many milestones along this journey. At this time, we would like to highlight:

SAGUTXOA PROJECT

Here at The Walk on Project, we have a very exciting project underway in collaboration with LKS, CSIC, and UMH.

Using pulp from the teeth of children with neurodegenerative diseases, we generate functional neurons in the laboratory that develop the disease in exactly the same way as the children do. This gives us the best possible test bed: a cellular model that accurately reflects each patient.

We then use quantum computing to analyze all this information, which provides us with the clues we need to discover new treatments. A key step forward—from the laboratory to hope for families.

In 2026, our biannual WOP Konekta event once again brought together the general public and the scientific community to discuss the future of neuroscience.

The conference combined an informative session in which everyone could grasp the potential of the exciting era we are experiencing in medicine: the possibilities of AI and quantum computing applied to the nervous system and our health, the new era of personalized medicine, models that simulate human biology… with specialized sessions where national and international researchers debated and shared research and projects on advanced therapies (with a special focus on gene and cell therapies), AI and quantum computing, and brain-machine interfaces, among other topics.
