The summer of 2008 Jontxu, who was a 6 years old boy, started to stumble in a mountain. It was the announcement of the diagnosis that on October 13th of that year communicated to Mikel and Mentxu, their parents. Diagnosis of a serious neurodegenerative disease that would apparently make Jon die. “What the doctors did not know was that Jon was from Bilbao.” Mikel had to compose music and emerged “Walk On”. The song is a promise to Jon. “Walk On” is a promise of fighting forever against these diseases. Mikel and Mentxu created the Walk On Project Foundation (WOP), naming it as the promise. Jon, or, as we call, “Txuti” or “2T”, is alive and is the captain of the foundation.
The Walk On Project (WOP) develops different artistic, social, sporting and cultural activities to reach its main objectives:
Disclose the reality of neurodegenerative diseases.
Raising socialawareness in favor of research and science.
The values that move us:
We struggle every day trying to be faithful to them,
are the foundation of our way of acting and configure everything we do in WOP:
Overcoming, effort, emotion and optimism as engines of change,
fortitude, responsibility, courage to face challenges and work to persecute them.
What do we do?
Support us by becoming a WOPfriend or AmiWOP! An amiWOP is a private donor who decides to give an annual contribution (from €45 upwards) exclusively to support the aims of the WOP Foundation.
